Request for Public Records
Pursuant to G.L. c. 66, §10
"The Hate U Give" by Angela Thomas
Thank you for the response to my letter to you of September 30, 2019 requesting public records. I have reviewed all of the e-mails provided to me pursuant to that Request for Public Records and found the contents of said e-mails of considerable interest. You will recall that the above referenced Request for Public Records concluded with the statement "This is an ongoing request for records extending over a period of time." This further Request for Public Records covers the period from August 1, 2018 through January 31, 2019. Accordingly, the records requested are any and all documents in the possession, custody or control of the Belmont School Department as follows.
1. Any and all records whether transmitted electronically (e-mails) or by paper copy (i.e., notes, letters, etc.) either sent by you to or received by you from then Deputy Chief of Police J.
Macisaac and now Chief of Police J. Macisaac which in any way relate to "The Hate U Give."
2. Any and all records electronically transmitted (e-mails) which reference or otherwise mention
the word "Ferguson."
3. Any record that the Rule of Law stated by the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Graham v. Connor, 490 U.S. 386 (1989) was discussed with Belmont students or made known to Belmont students in relation to "The Hate U Give."
In response to this Request for Public Records, please proceed in conformance with the provisions of G .L. c. 66, § 10, including withholding any records based on asserted privilege. If any record is withheld based on asserted privilege, please produce detained indices to support the claimed privilege, identifying the records withheld from inspection and the particular legal basis for withholding said record.
